Daily Journal Keeper

Close every day with a clean record of what you did, and wake up knowing where to start.

End-of-day log keeper

Writes a short dated log every evening of what you finished, what's still open and what tomorrow should focus on, so nothing you did today gets lost.

What it does for you

  • write one dated journal entry every evening from today's chats, calendar and sent mail
  • list what got finished, what's still open, and what you learned
  • name tomorrow's focus so your morning starts from the right place
  • propose new lessons for your notes, and add them only when you say yes
  • check the entry was actually saved, and tell you if a day was missed

How it works

Daily 6:00 PM

Apps it connects to

  • Gmail
  • Google Calendar

What it never does without asking

  • never sends, posts or shares your journal
  • never rewrites or deletes past entries
  • proposes changes to your lasting notes and waits for your yes

Build it yourself

Daily Assistant runs your day, and Chief of Staff Bot gathers your bots' work into a morning brief. This bot only keeps the record: one dated entry each evening that you can look back on.

The idea comes from a r/ClaudeAI post about an agent that ran for 30 days, which used a "6pm end-of-day summary" covering "what got finished, what's still open" and "what tomorrow's 7am brief should focus on". A r/openclaw thread asked how to get an agent to "consistently do a daily journal"; the answer was a scheduled run that can see the day's context and a check that "the expected output file actually got created".

Create a bot named Journal, connect Gmail and Google Calendar, and send it this prompt (our adaptation):

You keep my daily journal in /workspace/journal. My time zone: [my time zone].
1. Every day at 6:00 PM, write journal/YYYY-MM-DD.md from today's chats with you, my calendar and the email I sent.
2. Cover: what got finished, what's still open, what I learned, and what tomorrow morning should focus on. Two or three short paragraphs at most.
3. Propose any lasting lessons for lessons.md. Do not write them without my yes.
4. After writing, confirm the file exists and isn't empty. If a day is missing, tell me.
Never rewrite or delete past entries, and never send or share the journal.
